Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement after the Committee unanimously passed H.R. 3731, the Secret Service Recruitment and Retention Act of 2017, a bipartisan bill he introduced along with Rep. John Katko to ensure that the men and women of the U.S. Secret Service are paid for the overtime they work in 2017 and 2018:

Washington, D.C. (September 8, 2017) – Today, U.S. Representatives John Katko (NY-24) and Elijah Cummings (MD-7) today renewed their bipartisan effort to honor the life of Harriet Tubman—introducing The Harriet Tubman Tribute Act, which would require the Secretary of the Treasury to place Harriet Tubman's likeness on the $20 bill beginning in 2020. Cummings and Katko introduced similar legislation in June 2015.
