Washington, D.C. (June 10, 2025)—Today, Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health Care and Financial Services, sent two letters to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a long time anti-vaccine activist with a history of promoting vaccine misinformation and conspiracy theories. The letters demand information on Secretary Kennedy’s abrupt dismissal of all seventeen members of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which develops evidence-based vaccine recommendations that doctors and insurance companies rely on in providing vaccines to children and adults, and HHS’s decision to take away the choice to receive annual vaccinations against COVID-19 from millions of people.

Lynch, Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.  The remarks were delivered at today’s Full Committee hearing on the bankruptcy filing of genetic testing company 23andMe, and its implications on the privacy of Americans’ sensitive data.

Washington, D.C. (June 6, 2025)— Today, Rep. Kweisi Mfume, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, led Subcommittee Democrats in sending a letter to Comptroller General of the United States Gene L. Dodaro requesting an investigation into the progress made on the U.S. Postal Service (Postal Service) and U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s (USPIS) Joint Project Safe Delivery Initiative, citing their continued concerns about the safety of Postal Service employees and facilities.

Washington, D.C. (June 6, 2025)— Rep. Stephen Lynch, Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, led Committee Democrats in motioning to subpoena Elon Musk to hold the “senior advisor” accountable for the damage and chaos he inflicted on our government and his reckless use of Americans’ sensitive data during his tenure as DOGE’s ringleader. In only 130 days, Musk and DOGE unlawfully unleashed AI in government systems, compiled a master database of Americans’ personal data, and exposed our nation to cybersecurity threats — the extent of which has not yet been determined. Additionally, there is a question as to whether Elon Musk was under the influence of drugs when he attacked Social Security, gutted government agencies, and undermined the vital programs Americans rely on.

Washington, D.C. (June 6, 2025)—Today, Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, submitted a comment letter urging Charles Ezell, Acting Director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), to rescind the agency’s proposed rule to reclassify 50,000 federal employees under a new version of Schedule F.  This reclassification ends the civil service protections that prevent federal employees from being fired for political reasons, allowing the Trump Administration and DOGE to continue their devastating purge of America’s nonpartisan, expert federal workforce that has already upended the delivery of vital services to Americans.
