Washington, D.C. (May 29, 2025)— Today, Rep. Summer Lee, Ranking Member of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight, and Rep. Lucy McBath, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, sent a letter to Attorney General Pamela Bondi regarding the Trump Administration’s decision to seek the dismissal of consent decrees with state and local police departments, a decision that effectively removes federal oversight of police departments accused of civil rights abuses and therefore opens the door for future violations in jurisdictions across the nation.
