Trump Hotel in Washington, DC

President Trump is both landlord and tenant in his company’s lease with the General Services Administration for his luxury hotel in Washington D.C. Chairman Cummings continues to request information about the Administration’s plan for addressing his breach of lease given President Trump’s refusal to divest himself of his ownership interests in his company. 

Throughout his presidency, former President Trump, through his companies, continued to lease the Old Post Office Building in Washington, D.C. from the General Services Administration and to operate the building as a hotel. 

President Trump’s refusal to fully separate himself from his business interests in the Trump Hotel allowed him to remain as both landlord and tenant, raising significant conflicts of interest and opportunities for self-dealing.  The Trump Hotel also served as an epicenter of violations of the Emoluments Clauses of the U.S. Constitution. 

Although the full extent of these violations has not been fully disclosed or examined, the Committee has estimated the Trump Hotel received at least $3.7 million from foreign government entities in the first three years of the Trump Administration.
