WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ranking Member Rep. Jamie Raskin, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), and Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) urged the House and Senate Armed Services Committees' leadership to include the District of Columbia National Guard Home Rule Act, which would give the D.C. mayor control over the D.C. National Guard, in the fiscal year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The D.C. National Guard Home Rule Act passed the House as part of the fiscal year 2023 NDAA, but Republicans blocked it in the Senate.
