Ranking Member Robert Garcia Statement on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Call for Investigation Into Young Republicans’ Racist, Anti-Semitic, Hateful Leaked Texts

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement after Governor Gavin Newsom called on the House Oversight Committee to investigate the racist, Anti-Semitic, and hateful texts leaked from a Young Republicans’ group chat.

“The offensive and disgusting text messages sent by Young Republican leaders should be condemned by every American. Governor Newsom is absolutely right to call out violent extremism within the GOP, and if Congressional Republicans are real about combatting Anti-Semitism, we should work together to demand accountability,” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia
