Ranking Member Robert Garcia Demands Pam Bondi Stop the White House Epstein Cover-Up; Explain Maxwell Prison Transfer
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, demanded Attorney General Pam Bondi end her efforts to obstruct the Committee’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and cease the White House cover-up of Epstein’s connections to wealthy and powerful individuals.
For months, Attorney General Bondi has refused to comply with the Oversight Committee’s lawful congressional subpoena to release the full Epstein files, and must cooperate with the Committee’s investigation into a corrupt quid-quo-pro between the DOJ and Ghislaine Maxwell. This comes after the Department of Justice has refused to provide additional production from the Epstein files or share details about the full scope of Epstein-related materials in its possession, and has failed to respond to the Committee’s investigation into preferential treatment for convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell.
“Each day Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice fail to comply with our subpoena to release the full Epstein files is another day Donald Trump continues his White House cover-up,” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia. “Survivors of Epstein and Maxwell’s crimes deserve justice, the American people demand transparency, and under no circumstances will Oversight Democrats tolerate defiance of Congress’ lawful subpoenas or any efforts by the Trump Administration to collude with Ghislaine Maxwell and further this cover-up. We’re demanding Pam Bondi and the DOJ comply with our subpoena, stop protecting pedophiles, and fulfill their legally-bound commitment so our Committee can review the full Epstein files. We will not stop fighting until we get the truth and those implicated are held accountable.”
“The ongoing refusal by DOJ and BOP to provide Congress with information related to Epstein and Maxwell demonstrates the Trump Administration’s contempt for providing transparency to the American people about Epstein’s crimes. The interests of ensuring that justice is done for the victims of Epstein’s and Maxwell’s horrific crimes and of protecting the integrity of the U.S. justice system urgently demand that the Trump Administration live up to its stated commitment and provide responsive information to this Committee immediately,” wrote Ranking Member Robert Garcia in the letter.
