Ranking Member Robert Garcia Statement on Mike Johnson’s Refusal to Swear In Rep-Elect Adelita Grijalva

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement as Speaker Mike Johnson continues to refuse to swear in Rep-Elect Adelita Grijalva, blocking her from being the 218th signature on the Epstein files discharge petition.

“It has been 3 weeks since Rep-Elect Adelita Grijalva won her election for the people of Arizona, and Speaker Mike Johnson still refuses to swear her in as a Member of Congress,” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia. “It’s clear Speaker Johnson is keeping the House in recess and holding the American people hostage so Adelita is blocked from being the 218th signature on the discharge petition to release the Epstein files. House Republicans must end this White House cover-up and get to work for their constituents. Speaker Johnson must swear in Adelita now.”
