Cummings Applauds Court's Decision Upholding Key Component of HealthCare Law

Washington, DC (June 25, 2015)—Today, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement in response to today's court decision upholding the provision of the Affordable Care Act that authorizes the payment of federal subsidies for the millions of Americans who receive health insurance through the federal exchange:

"I am very pleased that the Supreme Court has issued this historic ruling to keep subsidies intact under the Affordable Care Act for more than 8 million Americans to ensure that everyone—regardless of where they live—has access to quality, affordable health care. It's time for Republicans to stop attacking this incredibly successful law—which will save hundreds of billions of dollars in the next ten years—and focus on ensuring that every American has access to the benefits of the Affordable Care Act."
