Kweisi Mfume (MD-07), and Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Delivering On Government Efficiency (DOGE) Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) led more than 30 Democrats in sending a letter to Comptroller General of the United States Gene L. Dodaro calling on the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to provide Congress with regular updates on how the Trump Administration's personnel actions are affecting the federal workforce.

Lucy McBath, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, sent a letter to Attorney General Pamela Bondi regarding the Trump Administration’s decision to seek the dismissal of consent decrees with state and local police departments, a decision that effectively removes federal oversight of police departments accused of civil rights abuses and therefore opens the door for future violations in jurisdictions across the nation.

Connolly, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Acting Inspector General Heather Hill demanding an investigation into DOGE’s invasion of taxpayer privacy rights in IRS systems following concerning reporting that DOGE planned to partner with Palantir, a software company cofounded by Trump-connected Republican megadonor Peter Thiel, to run a 30 day “hackathon.” Under the guise of “modernizing” IRS systems, DOGE is attempting to create a centralized master database of taxpayer information accessible by unknown external sources, like Palantir, posing a clear threat to the privacy and safety of Americans.
