Ranking Member Robert Garcia Statement on Supreme Court’s Rejection of Ghislaine Maxwell’s Appeal of Sex Trafficking Conviction and 20-Year Sentence
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement after the Supreme Court declined to hear Ghislaine Maxwell’s petition to overturn her sex trafficking conviction and 20-year prison sentence.
“The Supreme Court has correctly rejected Ghislaine Maxwell’s latest attempt to escape justice. And it’s outrageous that President Trump and the Department of Justice have moved Ghislaine Maxwell to a less restrictive facility with no explanation.
Maxwell helped lead the Epstein sex trafficking ring and was directly involved in the abuse of women and children.
The Trump Administration’s ongoing effort to pressure Maxwell into aiding their coverup, including arranging an interview with Donald Trump’s former attorney, Todd Blanche, is outrageous and shameful. Maxwell has been subpoenaed by the Oversight Committee and must now answer our questions truthfully.
It is time to end the White House coverup of the Epstein case. Survivors deserve justice, and the American people deserve the truth,” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia.
