Ranking Member Robert Garcia Statement on Former Trump Attorney General William Barr’s Deposition Regarding Epstein Investigation

August 18, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement after Former Attorney General William Barr sat for a deposition before the bipartisan House Oversight Committee and was questioned regarding his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

“Let’s be clear: while it’s important to depose former Attorney General Barr – who ran the Department of Justice when Jeffrey Epstein died – the most critical thing the Oversight Committee needs for its investigation is the full, complete, and unredacted Epstein files, including any ‘client list.’ The bipartisan Oversight Committee subpoena requires these documents by tomorrow, and if the Committee does not receive the files, it will be clear the Trump Epstein Coverup continues. We will not stop until we have true justice for the victims, and transparency for the American people.”
