Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, released the following statement after Republicans on the Committee called Mayor Karen Bass to testify about a joint City-County homeless agency in Los Angeles, the latest in a pattern of the Trump Administration and its congressional allies using the federal government to punish cities that have pushed back against their agenda.
“This is clearly another attempt by Donald Trump and House Republicans to launch a witch hunt against Mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles. The Trump Administration attempted to strip funding critical to combatting homelessness in Los Angeles. The City and County of Los Angeles fought the Trump Administration in federal court and won. Oversight Democrats will fight this partisan effort.”
