Ranking Member Robert Garcia Demands Immediate Release of Epstein Files Following Explosive Memoir from Survivor Virginia Giuffre
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, demanded Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice (DOJ) immediately turn over all Epstein-related files and end her refusal to comply with the Committee’s months-old congressional subpoena. This comes after Virginia Giuffre, a survivor of Epstein’s sex trafficking operation, released her new memoir, Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice. Giuffre’s testimony detailed damning allegations regarding Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, the vast scale of Epstein’s criminal network, and alleges the existence of critical new evidence which may be in the possession of the DOJ.
“Virginia Giuffre’s allegations are heartbreaking and horrific, including testimony that prominent world and U.S. leaders perpetrated sexual assault and sex trafficking of girls and young women. Ms. Giuffre clearly contradicts the agency’s claim that the Epstein files did not justify further investigation. In light of this, the DOJ must comply with our subpoena and provide our Committee with the full Epstein files immediately, because the American people demand the truth, the survivors deserve justice, and we must end this White House cover-up,” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia.
In the letter to Attorney General Bondi, Ranking Member Robert Garcia wrote, “Your refusal to release the files and your continued disregard of a congressional subpoena raises serious questions about your motives. Oversight Democrats support transparency and accountability for the survivors of Epstein’s crimes, as described by Ms. Giuffre, regardless of the identities of the perpetrators or co-conspirators or their positions of power. You, however, are going to extreme lengths to conceal the truth from the American people, apparently in cooperation with President Trump. This is unacceptable, particularly as Speaker Mike Johnson continues to highlight the work of our Committee to demonstrate his commitment to transparency on the Epstein matter, yet he continues to ignore your increasingly obvious refusal to respond to a lawful subpoena.”
