Ranking Member Robert Garcia Demands Answers on Ghislaine Maxwell Prison Transfer, Trump Admin Cover-Up, from Camp Bryan Prison Warden

October 30, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, wrote to Dr. Tanisha Hall, Warden of the Federal Prison Camp Bryan, where Ghislaine Maxwell is currently incarcerated, to demand answers regarding allegations that Maxwell is receiving favorable treatment from the Trump Administration and Bureau of Prisons following her meeting with President Trump’s former personal attorney, Deputy AG Todd Blanche. The letter also demands information following news reports on alleged meetings between Maxwell and unidentified “VIPs” while in custody, raising concerns of a potential Trump Administration quid-pro-quo and pardon. This letter is the third in a series of inquiries to the Trump Administration regarding Maxwell’s prison transfer. The Department of Justice and the Bureau of Prisons have both failed to provide answers to the Oversight Committee.

“It is clear Ghislaine Maxwell is being given favorable treatment by the Trump Administration. She should never have been moved from her prison facility. We are deeply concerned by the refusal of the Justice Department and the Bureau of Prisons to provide answers on why Maxwell was transferred against BOP procedures shortly after her meeting with Todd Blanche. It is clear there is a deliberate effort on all levels of our government to obstruct information about Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and the role Maxwell played in them. We will not stop demanding answers and seeking justice for the victims,” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia

In the letter to Dr. Tanisha Hall, Warden of the Federal Prison Camp Bryan, Ranking Member Robert Garcia wrote, “The Committee is particularly alarmed by compelling evidence that the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) has granted Ms. Maxwell preferential treatment while simultaneously stonewalling congressional oversight into her transfer and her ongoing conditions of confinement. That refusal to provide even basic information raises serious concerns that the Trump Administration is obstructing the Committee’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and the highly irregular communications between Ms. Maxwell and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. We therefore demand your full cooperation and transparency concerning the circumstances surrounding her transfer to your facility, the specifications of her confinement, and any privileges she enjoys under your supervision.”

In October, Ranking Member Garcia wrote to Chairman James Comer seeking to immediately schedule a date for Ghislaine Maxwell to testify in front of the Oversight Committee. House Republicans had previously agreed to let Maxwell delay until after her Supreme Court case was decided. In September, Ranking Member Garcia led every Oversight Democrat in demanding an investigation from Department of Justice Acting Inspector General William Blier after Ghislaine Maxwell was transferred from a correctional institution in Tallahassee, Florida, to a less restrictive federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas shortly after meeting with Deputy Attorney General, and former Trump personal attorney, Todd Blanche. Survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and advocates have raised concerns that the justice system is “failing victims right before our eyes.” In August, Ranking Member Garcia also demanded answers from the Bureau of Prisons on the decision to move Maxwell.
