Ranking Member Raskin’s Statement on Transcribed Interview with Rob Walker

Press Release

Washington, D.C. (January 26, 2024)—Today, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, issued the following statement after the Committee concluded a transcribed interview with Rob Walker:

“Mr. Walker reaffirmed today what we already know by now: Joe Biden was not involved in, did not profit from, and took no official actions in relation to his family’s business dealings.  Mr. Walker stated to the Committee, just as he previously confirmed to FBI and IRS investigators under the Trump Administration, that any suggestion that Joe Biden was involved with Hunter’s business dealings was ‘wishful thinking,’ akin to ‘unicorns and rainbows.’

“Beyond today’s testimony, the Committee has reviewed thousands of pages of financial records across a 14-year period from Mr. Walker—documents that go well beyond any business deal with Hunter Biden or CEFC—and not a single one of these bank records indicates wrongdoing by President Biden.

“Instead of accepting the overwhelming body of evidence that indicates no wrongdoing by President Biden, much less an impeachable offense, Congressional Republicans are sailing off further into the distance on their conspiracy-theory fishing expedition to find something, anything, that might placate former President Trump.  For 13 months House Republicans have been fishing without a pole or a line, without bait or a hook, and I’m not sure they even have a map that will get them safely back ashore.  It’s time my Republican colleagues accept that all the facts and evidence has proven that President Biden has committed no impeachable offense or wrongdoing.  For the sake of our constituents, please let’s get back to work.”
