Ranking Member Connolly’s Statement on Committee Republicans’ Upcoming Hearing on Trump’s Cruel, Lawless Immigration Agenda

Washington, D.C. (May 6, 2025)— Today, Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement after Chairman James Comer and Committee Republicans announced a second hearing on the Trump Administration’s extremist and cruel immigration agenda:

“Chairman Comer and Republicans failed to get the ‘gotcha moments’ they wanted during March’s hearing, where Oversight Democrats and Democratic Mayors swatted off their overtly political attacks and called out the Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans for their cruel and lawless attacks on immigrants, their children, and their families.

“Oversight Democrats—and I’m sure Governors Hochul, Pritzker, and Walz—welcome the opportunity to once again fight for humane immigration policies and highlight how the Trump Administration is making our country and our cities less safe, especially as this Administration disappears people, including our nation’s youngest citizens, off American streets.  Bring on Round Two.”
