FAIRFAX, VA – Rep. Gerry Connolly, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Technology, Information Policy, Intergovernmental Relations and Procurement Reform, and Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, will hold a forum on technology and the federal government on May 11, 2012, in Northern Virginia. 

The forum will be fact-gathering panel discussion and an opportunity for Members and the public to hear from large and small information technology companies and government officials about the top technology issues affecting government today, including a proposal to shut down federal data centers and the Office of Management and Budget’s 25-point plan to reform IT management.  

The Congressmen have invited representatives from the private sector, including the Professional Services Council, Microsoft, Google, and a number of smaller information technology companies and their trade associations, as well as government officials from the Office of Management and Budget and the Federal Acquisitions Institute.  The forum will be hosted by the Congressmen in their capacity as Ranking Members, and the event is not an official hearing of the Oversight Committee.
