Maloney, Kelly, and Bush to Release New Report on Public Health Impact of Gun Violence Epidemic

Washington, D.C. (July 13, 2021)—On Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. ET, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, and Committee Members Rep. Robin Kelly and Rep. Cori Bush, will hold a press conference to release a new Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on the public health impact of America's gun violence epidemic.

On February 4, 2020, Chairwoman Maloney, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Rep. Kelly requested that GAO examine the total annual medical costs associated with gun violence in the United States.

At this press conference, Chairwoman Maloney, Rep. Kelly, and Rep. Bush will release the new GAO report and highlight the need for the federal government to address the gun violence epidemic and its disproportionate impact on marginalized communities as a public health crisis.
