Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC - House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy and Ranking Member Elijah E. Cummings issued the following statement after FEMA released a report regarding allegations of sexual harassment against the former Chief Component Human Capital Officer at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

"We are outraged and appalled by the revelations in today's FEMA report. We intended to convene the Committee for a hearing with FEMA next week, but our joint assessment after speaking with Administrator Long is that holding a hearing at this time may negatively impact the ongoing investigation. We plan to meet with FEMA to understand the full scope of the investigation and pledge our bipartisan support. Following the conclusion of the investigation, our Committee plans to hold a hearing to fully examine the results and to determine what role Congress can play in assuring this never happens again."
