Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement following reports of a shooting today at a Arizona patrol base where one U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed and a second was injured:

“My deepest sympathies go out to the family of the brave Border Patrol agent killed in the line of duty today, as well as to his colleagues who survived the tragic shooting.  We owe U.S. Border Patrol Agents and their families a great debt for the tremendous sacrifices they make every day to ensure our nation’s security from all manner of threats.  It is my hope that we in Congress can work together to implement reforms to help protect these courageous agents as they fight to keep our borders safe.”
