Cummings Issues Statement on GSA IG Report

April 2, 2012

Washington, DC – Representative Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, released the following statement today in response to a report issued by the General Services Administration's (GSA) Inspector General that found excessive spending and procurement violations in connection with a training conference held by the agency in 2010. GSA Administrator Martha Johnson and several top officials resigned today.

"This report reveals what appears to be a gross abuse of taxpayer dollars and a breach of public trust. Although I am encouraged that swift action was taken to hold officials accountable, I have also requested an immediate briefing from GSA's Inspector General on the report."
