Chairwoman Maloney Issues Floor Statement in Support of Interim Emergency Coronavirus Relief Package
| Washington, D.C. (Apr. 23, 2020)—Today, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, the Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, delivered the following statement, as prepared for delivery, on the House Floor in support of H.R. 266: Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act: Watch Chairwoman Maloney's floor statement. Floor Statement of Chairwoman Carolyn B. Maloney I support this bill, which provides an additional $310 billion for PPP loans, and while this is desperately needed, it almost certainly won't be enough. I'm glad that $60 billion is being set aside for community banks, credit unions, minority banks, and CDFIs, and as the Chairwoman of the Oversight Committee, I promise that I will watch this $60 billion like a hawk to make sure that it goes to the lenders — and the communities — that we intended. But I also want to mention another key priority — the Postal Service. Without immediate action, the Postal Service could cease to exist by the end of September. We must act to save the Postal Service very soon. I yield back. |
