Chairwoman Maloney, Congressional Leaders To Join Texas Advocates At Press Conference on What’s at Stake for Abortion Rights and Access
Washington, D.C. (September 29, 2021)—On Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. ET, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, the Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, will hold a press conference with Rep. Brenda Lawrence, Committee Member and Co-Chair of the Democratic Women's Caucus; Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Committee Member and Chair of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus's Abortion Rights and Access Task Force; Rep. Jackie Speier, Member of the Committee on Oversight and Reform and Co-Chair, Democratic Women's Caucus; Rep. Veronica Escobar, Vice Chair of the Democratic Women's Caucus; Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, and Texas-based advocates to address what's at stake for abortion rights and access in the United States.
The press conference will follow the Committee's 10 a.m. hearing addressing the threat posed by abortion bans and other extreme anti-choice policies being pursued by Texas and other states, and the current Supreme Court's hostility to reproductive rights.
