December 13, 2021

Washington, D.C. (December 13, 2021)—Today, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, and Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, issued the following statements after President Biden issued an executive order, entitled "Transforming Federal Customer Experience and Service Delivery to Rebuild Trust in Government"to help cut bureaucratic red tape and make it easier for Americans to access federal government services and benefits.

"I applaud the Biden-Harris Administration for today's Executive Order committing to provide excellent customer service by the federal government. By removing bureaucratic red tape and streamlining complicated processes, President Biden is ensuring the American people will have better access to the services they need and deserve. Making sure the government has the right tools, a strong workforce, and proper accountability in delivering critical services is at the core of the work of our Committee," said Chairwoman Maloney. "I look forward to partnering with the Administration to implement this innovative plan."

"With trust in government at an all-time low, it is crucial that the Administration and Congress work together to improve how the public interacts and receives services from the federal government," said Chairman Connolly. "Government services should be human-centered and minimize complexity and administrative burden and costs. I have led key legislative efforts that would enable all levels of government to design services around the customer. President Biden's EO advances the opportunity for federal agencies to deliver a world-class customer experience and ultimately improve trust in government."
