Chair Connolly to Host OPM Director for Conversation About Opportunities for Next Generation of Public Servants
Washington, D.C. (September 30, 2021)—On Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. ET in Fairfax, VA, Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, will host Office of Personnel Management Director Kiran A. Ahuja at George Mason University for a conversation about how the federal government can attract the next generation of public servants. The federal government has a critical shortage of early career talent—only eight percent of the federal workforce is under the age of 30, compared to more than 23 percent of the U.S. workforce. Chairman Connolly and Director Ahuja will discuss how Congress can help improve how the federal government administers internships and highlight career opportunities available in public service.
