On the 100th Day of The Trump-Musk Administration, Ranking Member Connolly Demands Compliance with 100 Committee Investigations

Washington, D.C. (April 30, 2025)— Today, Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued a statement after sending more than one hundred letters to recipients across the Trump-Musk Administration demanding compliance with ongoing investigations by Committee Democrats.  While President Trump and billionaire oligarch Elon Musk have falsely claimed to be “the most transparent,” the Administration has completely failed to engage with Congress, abide by judicial orders, or respond to public outrage over their extremist agenda.  Instead, they’ve relied on Congressional Republicans to shield President Trump, Musk, and others from real congressional oversight while they attack and eliminate the federal workforce, illegally shutdown agencies, and ram their betrayal of a budget and reconciliation bill through Congress.  

Oversight Democrats have opened a wide range of investigations into the corrupt and shadowy dealings of this Administration, using whistleblower information and every tool at our disposal to bring the Administration’s abuses to light.  This includes shining a light on the illegal activities of DOGE within federal agencies—such as creeping on Americans’ private data—investigating the mass firings of public servants, exposing the illegal shuttering of entire agencies and Bureaus, underscoring the Administration’s attacks on life-saving public programs and services, the shocking use of insecure group chats to share classified information, and more.

“The Trump-Musk Administration has spent 100 days in hiding, 100 days working for billionaires while hard-working families struggle to make ends meet in Trump’s chaotic and expensive economy, 100 days inviting corruption, and 100 days dismantling decades of progress on everything from vaccination policies and food safety to consumer protection and clean air and water,” said Ranking Member Connolly.  “While Trump and Elon Musk launched attack after attack on our Nation’s public servants, life-saving programs, and policies that protect Americans and keep families safe and healthy, Committee Democrats have only strengthened our resolve in our fight to push back against this tyranny in the courts, in Congress, and in communities nationwide.  Today, I am reminding the White House that we will not give up on our fight for the American people.
