Washington, DC —Today, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter formally objecting to Committee Chairman Darrell Issa's proposed unilateral subpoena to compel hearing testimony next Wednesday regarding the federal Hatch Act from David Simas, Assistant to the President and the Director of the Office of Political Strategy and Outreach, despite a complete lack of any evidence of inappropriate activities on the part of that office.
