Ranking Member Robert Garcia Statement on Attorney General Pam Bondi Refusing to Commit to Bipartisan Oversight Subpoena

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, released the following statement after Attorney General Pam Bondi refused to commit to the Oversight Committee’s bipartisan subpoena to sit for a deposition. The subpoena follows the Department of Justice’s botched release of the Epstein files and the continued White House cover-up.

“Oversight Democrats just walked out of an outrageous fake hearing where Pam Bondi refused to say she would show up for her under oath deposition.

We asked her multiple times and she refused to commit. We won’t participate in a fake hearing that’s not under oath and not transcribed. The American people deserve transparency and the truth. We are going to end this White House Cover-Up,” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia.

In addition, Chairman Comer made an insulting remark towards Congresswoman Summer Lee, accusing her of “bitching” for asking about what the committee would do if Bondi didn’t appear.

Earlier this month, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform secured a subpoena for Attorney General Pam Bondi following a motion by Congresswoman Nancy Mace supported by all Committee Democrats. Attorney General Bondi has failed to comply with the separate, bipartisan House Oversight Committee subpoena issued in August 2025, requiring the release of the complete, unredacted files to the Committee, and as the Department of Justice (DOJ) under her leadership continues to illegally withhold and conceal Epstein file materials from Congress. All Oversight Democrats in attendance voted in the affirmative, joined by Republican Rep. Nancy Mace, Rep. Lauren Boebert, Rep. Michael Cloud, Rep. Scott Perry, and Rep. Tim Burchett. The bipartisan subpoena passed the House Oversight Committee 24 to 19.
