Washington, D.C. (June 23, 2025)— Today, Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health Care and Financial Services, and Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on the Military and Foreign Affairs, sent a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reiterating requests for information from Committee Democrats that have gone unanswered on the Trump Administration’s rollback of lifesaving food inspection and disease surveillance activities, the firing of thousands of workers from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and HHS, and failure to inform the American public about the spread of life-threatening infectious diseases.

Washington, D.C. (June 5, 2025)—Today, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, and Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi and Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Kash Patel asking whether it is true that the Epstein files are being withheld because they personally implicate President Trump, as alleged in an X post by Elon Musk.

Washington, D.C. (June 5, 2025)— Below is an opening statement, as prepared for delivery, from Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.  The remarks were delivered at today’s full committee hearing on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the federal government, where Acting Ranking Member Lynch motioned to subpoena Elon Musk to testify before the Committee.  Republicans suspended the hearing as they struggled to bring their Members to the hearing room to vote.

Washington, D.C. (June 4, 2025)— Today, Rep. Stephen F. Lynch,  Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter to Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick following reports received by Committee Democrats that illegally fired employees were denied health coverage for which they had already paid and that Commerce did not honor its required commitment to continue employee health coverage for a 31-day period after their termination.

Washington, D.C. (June 4, 2025)—Today, Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter to President Donald Trump seeking information concerning his knowledge of whether Elon Musk was under the influence of illicit drugs while serving as a Special Government Employee and White House Senior Adviser.  In these prominent roles, Elon Musk used his extensive powers and influence to direct lucrative government contracts to his network of companies, execute mass firings of federal workers, deprive the world’s malnourished and neediest children of food and medical supplies, undermine Social Security, surveil and stockpile Americans most sensitive data and information, and generally make life harder and more expensive for the American people.
