WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today introduced the Washington, D.C. Admission Act (H.R. 51) to make the District of Columbia the 51^st state, her first bill of the 116^th Congress. She introduced the bill with 151 original cosponsors, a new record, up from the previous record Norton set in the 115^th Congress (116). Norton also announced that the Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD), has committed to holding a hearing and markup in 2019 on H.R. 51.
