Washington, D.C. (May 29, 2025)— Today, Rep. Summer Lee, Ranking Member of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight, and Rep. Lucy McBath, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, sent a letter to Attorney General Pamela Bondi regarding the Trump Administration’s decision to seek the dismissal of consent decrees with state and local police departments, a decision that effectively removes federal oversight of police departments accused of civil rights abuses and therefore opens the door for future violations in jurisdictions across the nation.

Washington, D.C. (April 28, 2025)—Today, Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Rep. David Min sent letters to Kirkland & Ellis LLP;  Allen Overy Shearman Sterling LLP;  Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP;  Latham & Watkins LLP;  Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP;  and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates requesting documents and information about each law firm’s “agreement” to provide millions of dollars in what the White House calls “pro bono legal concessions” to avoid being targeted by the Trump Administration.  In their letters, the Members also highlight reports that the agreements may have been made through President Trump’s personal lawyer for a “legal war chest to be used as” President Trump wishes.  These letters build on previous action by Rep. Min on this issue.

Washington, D.C. (April 17, 2025)—Today, Reps. Gerald E. Connolly, Joe Morelle, and Jamie Raskin, the top Democrats on the Committees on Oversight and Government Reform, House Administration, and Judiciary, respectively, sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi requesting confirmation that the Department of Justice (DOJ) will zealously represent the Government Accountability Office (GAO)—a Legislative Branch agency—in a lawsuit filed by America First Legal Foundation which preposterously alleges that GAO is part of the Executive Branch.

Today, Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter to Thomas E. Austin, the Architect of the Capitol, requesting he make clear to the American taxpayers how much they are being forced to pay to repair the damages caused by January 6th Capitol Attack rioters.
