Ethics and Transparency
Ranking Member Cummings is committed to investigating the President's unprecedented vast global entanglements, financial conflicts of interest, and penchant for secrecy, including his refusal to release his tax returns. He is also conducting oversight of the Administration's troubling pattern of misguided and politically-motivated attacks on government watchdogs, ethics experts, law enforcement officials, and career government employees.
Chairwoman Maloney is committed to strengthening government ethics, oversight, and transparency. She has conducted vigorous oversight to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in government such as investigations into TransDigm Group Inc.'s price-gouging of the Department of Defense and Emergent BioSolutions, Inc.'s manufacturing failures that led to the destruction of millions of coronavirus vaccines. She has passed legislation in the House to enhance the independence of Inspectors General, who provide independent oversight and safeguard taxpayers' money, and worked to improve the implementation of the Freedom of Information Act, which allows the public to obtain information about the activities of its government.
