Maloney, the Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, issued this statement following the Senate vote against establishing an independent, bipartisan 9/11-type commission that would examine the attack on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021:
"I am deeply disappointed that Republicans in the Senate put party over country and blocked the creation of an independent, bipartisan Commission to investigate the root causes of the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
