WASHINGTON, D.C. –Chairwoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), and Congressman Anthony G. Brown (D-MD) today announced that they filed an amendment to the fiscal year 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) at the Committee on Rules that would give the District of Columbia mayor control over the D.C. National Guard. The committee determines which amendments will be allowed to be offered on the House floor to the bill.

Admission Act, introduced by Congresswoman Norton on January 4, 2021, to grant statehood to the people of the District of Columbia. The historic vote paves the way for the House of Representatives to pass H.R. 51.
