Cummings (D-MD), Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, today sent letters to more than 100 industry representatives and other organizations, requesting copies of letters they sent in response to requests by Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) to identify regulations that negatively impact job growth.

Mr. Chairman, thank you for recognizing me. And let me start by congratulating you on your chairmanship.
(Washington, DC) – Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD), Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, wrote to Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) today objecting to Issa's proposal to return to the policy employed by former Committee Chairman Dan Burton, who issued over 1,000 subpoenas without minority concurrence or a Committee vote. Rep. Cummings also objected to Chairman Issa's policy of denying minority access to Committee records.

WASHINGTON – On December 21, 2010, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD) requested that Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) hold a hearing on the foreclosure crisis. In particular, he requested that the Committee's first hearing investigate "the widespread utilization of flawed and fraudulent practices… throughout the mortgage service industry." Although Chairman Issa said today this is a "subject of interest," he did not agree to hold such a hearing.
