Committee Makes Purdue Documents Public to Promote Transparency
The Committee is now making available to the public select documents obtained as part of its investigation into Purdue Pharma, L.P. and members of the Sackler family in order to provide greater transparency into the Sackler family's role in fueling the opioid crisis and to promote accountability and justice for the victims and families that have been devastated by addiction.
In December 2020, members of the Sackler family testified before the Committee at a hearing to examine the role of Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family in fueling the opioid epidemic and said that they support the goal of additional transparency on behalf of the American people.
During the hearing, David Sackler, who previously served on Purdue's Board of Directors, testified:
Despite these claims, the Sackler family has not yet agreed to enter their documents into a public government repository.
